Jean-Louis MEDUS, a lawyer admitted to the Paris Bar since 1993 and the Luxembourg Bar since 2012, began his career as a financial analyst in an American consulting firm (Philadelphia) before joigning Paris Bar and gaining extensive experience in business law, private equity, and wealth engineering.
He specializes in LBO and buy-out transactions; financial engineering and capital restructuring; negotiation and structuring of management packages.
He graduated a PhD in Law (1992), an MBA from both HEC and Wharton School (1989), a DESS in business law and taxation (1986), and a master’s in accounting and financial sciences (MSTCF) (1985), Jean-Louis worked in both French and Anglo-Saxon law firms before joigning PGA Avocats
Professeur Agrégé des Universités, Jean-Louis has taught, in both French and English, financial law, taxation, and complex business transactions (LBO, OBO, Family Buy-Out) and headed the Master 2 in Tax Engineering at the University UT 1.
He wrote articles and books on the legal and tax aspects of "management packages" and financial law operations. In 1991, he was awarded the Turgot Prize for Best Financial Economics Book for his work "Financial Engineering and Leveraged Transactions." Recently (October 2021), he published the book "LBO Buy-outs and Business Succession (Financial, Legal, and Tax Aspects)" with Editions BoD.
In addition to his professional practice, Jean-Louis is an independent director for companies (medical devices, healthcare sectors) listed on the Nasdaq and serves on the supervisory boards of unlisted companies (audiovisual and digital transformation sectors).
